HBM is a global market leader in test& measurement as well in weighing technologies. The state-of-theart, innovative products set standards for precision throughout the world. The high-quality standards are well documented: In 1986, HBM was the first company in Germany to be awarded ISO9001 certification. In 1996, HBM’s environmental management system received ISO14001 certification. HBM operates 27 subsidiaries and sales offices in Europe, the Americas and Asia with approximately 1,500 employees. Relevant Expertise for the project:
HBM Austria became a competence center for railway and has realized a number of R&D projects which led to successful industrial railway products. HBM has for example developed a system for the monitoring of railway vehicles during operation (ARGOSR ) regarding safety and cost efficiency. With help of this system the running characteristics and load status of the passing vehicles on the railway track are validated.
Role in the project:
The main task of HBM in this proposal will be the development of a new smart sensor based on fibre optical technology in WP3 to operate in harsh environments and generate real life data that serves as input for pattern analysis algorithms.
